Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to make the creative arts accessible to people with a disability. The intended focus is providing people with disability access to experience the creative arts. It applies to individuals who work within the creative industry and require knowledge on making the arts accessible for people with disabilities, whether, this is the artists themselves or personnel within the organisation. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Determine access and inclusion requirements and identify existing barriers
  • Determine access requirements for people with disabilities to the venue, event or performance
  • Access and interpret relevant regulations, workplace health and safety requirements and workplace policies and procedures
  • Identify existing barriers for people with disabilities, including physical, content, ticketing, customer service and facilities
       
Element: Develop a plan to promote access and inclusion for people with disabilities
  • Identify practices to meet the access requirements for people with disabilities
  • Identify technologies that can be incorporated to promote access
  • Produce draft plan to promote access and inclusion, ensuring that it meets financial constraints, scheduling requirements and compliance with legislation and regulation.
  • Discuss with relevant stakeholders to confirm access and inclusion requirements have been met
  • Finalise plan for implementation in accordance with organisational policies and procedures

  • Check that the practices and technologies have been implemented as per the plan and are compliant with legislation and regulation

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
